Summer Enrichment Group Photo

As we say goodbye to July and head into August, we would like to highlight The Hancock Community Education Foundation’s Summer Enrichment program!

Children start their mornings in the Program with a healthy breakfast, with the summer reading program at the Louise Adelia Read Public Library afterwards.  The students also participated in nature activities at the Robert W. Nichol Nature Preserve and Science Center.

The warmer weather enables enrichment staff to hold fun (and sometimes wet!) outdoor activities to keep our students active as well. Fridays bring an opportunity for field trips, as students had the chance to visit Camp Kingswood, Nathaniel Cole Park, Skate Estate and Howe Caverns this year!

The Hancock Community Education Foundation has been operating their Summer Enrichment for over two decades, with the program first starting in 2003.  In the 20+ years, the HCEF have offered hundreds of field trips and countless activities for our students.  The enrichment gives an opportunity for our students to stay active in the summer, socialize with their peers, make new friends and learn new experiences!

The summer enrichment program began on July 8th and ends this week, with the students having a field trip to Chenango Valley State Park on Friday.  Thank you to The Hancock Community Education Foundation and its staff for these opportunities that many students otherwise wouldn’t have the chance to participate in!

We hope all our students enjoy the rest of their summer; we will see you in September! 😊
