NY THURSDAYS BACK AT HCS!
We are excited to have our first ‘NY Thursdays’ meal at HCS tomorrow, September 19th!
NY Thursday meals are cooked from scratch in each school’s kitchen using seasonal foods that are grown, harvested or produced in New York State.
The New York Thursday’s program is a statewide initiative to increase the availability of locally-sourced foods (such as milk, cheese and yogurt) for school meals. These meals will be offered 1-2 Thursdays each month, with our first one taking place this week.
This program helps students learn about how much of what they eat comes from our local farms and dairies. The program also enables a way to connect schools with local farms and food producers to strengthen agriculture, promote regional food system awareness and improve student health!
Check out the image below for this week's NY Thursdays menu!
