Hancock Central School District Partners with UHS to Offer Virtual Walk-In Health Visits for Students
Hancock, NY – The Hancock Central School District, in partnership with UHS, is excited to announce the introduction of school-based health virtual walk-in visits for HCSD students, effective immediately. This innovative initiative is designed to provide students with more accessible healthcare while minimizing disruptions to their learning experience.
Through this collaboration with UHS, students enrolled at HCSD now have the opportunity to receive medical care through virtual visits when appropriate. If a school nurse identifies a concern that can be addressed remotely, they will reach out to the student's parent or guardian to offer the option of a virtual health visit.
How It Works:
Once the nurse identifies a concern that can be resolved through a virtual consultation, they will contact the family to discuss the details.
UHS will then reach out to the family to obtain permission for the virtual visit, ensuring full consent before proceeding.
Finally, the student, their family, and the doctor will connect virtually to address the medical concern in a timely manner.
These virtual consultations will be billed through the student’s insurance as a regular walk-in visit, making it a seamless option for healthcare.
"Our goal is to keep students in the classroom and engaged in their education while ensuring they receive the medical care they need," said Superintendent, Lori Asquith.
"By offering this virtual walk-in service, we are taking an important step towards providing better access to healthcare for our students in a way that reduces time away from school."
We are proud to offer this innovative service and believe it will greatly benefit our school community. Thank you for your continued support as we work to make healthcare more accessible and convenient for our students.
For more information or to learn more about the virtual health visit process, please contact Jennifer Hunt at the Hancock Central School District Health Office at (607) 637-1310
