EAGLES WIN A PAIR, SIMMONS TIES NYS SINGLE GAME REBOUND RECORD
The D-H Eagles boys basketball team have had a busy week, winning 2 big MAC league conference games (with another tonight) as we head towards the end of the regular season.
On Tuesday, Deposit-Hancock traveled to Unatego and picked up a big victory, 63-54. Trailing 42-29 at one point in the 3rd quarter, the Eagles went on a 9-0 run to end the period. They got hot in the 4th quarter thanks to Alejandro Gonzales, outscoring the Spartans by a score of 25-12. Gonzales led D-H with 22 points, including 5 three pointers. Micah Simmons added 17 points and 20 rebounds, while Blake Fortunato had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Noah Bass added a steal, Jacoby Mapes had 6 points and 7 rebounds, while Greyson Thomas chipped in a couple baskets and a block.
On Wednesday, D-H was in Greene, where they outlasted the Trojans 70-59 in overtime. Micah Simmons was dominant, with 29 points and a NYSPHSAA tie for the single game rebound record at 31! Fortunato added 20 points, Gonzales had 10 points and Mapes tallied 8 points and 18 rebounds. The Eagles stepped up the defense in the extra period, outscoring Greene 11-0.
The pair of wins move D-H to 5th overall in the MAC standings (5-3), with the possibility of moving up to 3rd depending on the final two games. Oxford currently sits 3rd at 6-2, with Sidney also 5-3 in the 4th position. The top 4 teams will play for the MAC League championship during the week of February 17th.
The Eagles are back at it tonight at HCS, taking on Unadilla Valley at 7:15 p.m., while they finish the regular season next Tuesday against B-G (also at HCS- 7:15 p.m.).
Good luck, boys!

GOOD BEHAVIOR AT MORNING PROGRAM
During today’s Morning Program, Mrs. Feeney introduced the 3 B’s of good behavior—Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe—which our students know well! But here’s the exciting part: Starting in March, we’ll be recognizing students who consistently demonstrate these positive behaviors with a special monthly award! 🏆
Teachers will select one student per grade each month to receive a ‘Triple B’ Award. Those students chosen will receive a fun prize, like a shout-out on the announcements, a no-homework pass, a redo certificate, or a brain break choice! 🎉 Students will have the opportunity to choose from a list tailored to their classroom.
We’re looking forward to celebrating our Wildcats who set a great example every day! Thank you to all of you that showed up to today’s program!

Pennies from Heaven Fundraiser!
Hancock Central School is excited to participate in UHS Delaware Valley Hospital’s Pennies from Heaven fundraiser throughout February!
Students in UPK through 6th grade will bring home flyers with details on how to collect spare pennies from family, friends, and community members. From February 1st to February 28th, each classroom will have a collection jug for daily donations.
At the end of the month, UHS will tally the totals, and the classroom that raises the most will win a pizza party 🎉🍕—courtesy of Delaware Valley Hospital!
All proceeds support the DVH fund, so let’s come together and make a difference!

We are Wildcat proud of our amazing school counselors, Mrs. Feeney and Mrs.Rice, who guide, support, and inspire students every day! 💙 Happy National School Counseling Week! You make a difference!

Mrs. Rice and Mrs. Dufton's 5th and 6th graders embraced the spirit of tomorrow’s Lunar New Year in school today with engaging activities!
The students cooked and enjoyed Tteokguk, a traditional Korean rice cake soup, played yut nori, a lively traditional Korean game and created bokjumoni, which are colorful pouches symbolizing good fortune and luck for the year ahead.
