We want to congratulate the Deposit-Hancock Eagles Softball team on capturing the 2024 NYSPHSAA Class D Softball Championship with their 13-0 victory over Salem at Martha Avenue Recreation Park in Bellport, NY!
Deposit-Hancock had a solid, team performance at the plate, with dominant pitching in the championship.
The Lady Eagles scored 13 runs on 13 hits, crossing the plate in the 2nd,3rd,5th and 7th innings. Oliva Johnston and Haley Begeal each had 2 hits with 3 rbi. Sarah Gross was 3 for 4 with 2 runs and 1 rbi. Amanda Ray and Abby Russell both had 2 hits, 2 runs and 1 rbi. Averiona Curtis and Leah Braun also collected hits on the afternoon. Kadyn Appley scored 3 runs, while Nora Bartholomew and Pagen Macumber each knocked in a run.
On the hill, Addison Makowski was locked in and unstoppable. There was no answer from Salem, as Makowski struck out 21 in the complete game, shut out. Salem picked up a pair of singles in the 5th inning, but could not create anything else on their end.
This is the third straight New York State Softball Championship for Deposit-Hancock. Congratulations, ladies! Very much deserved, job well done!!
