Congratulations to the D-H Baseball team on their win over #5-seeded Edmeston/Morris by a score of 3-1 yesterday in Hancock!
Gavin McEnroe hit a solo HR in the 3rd inning to give Edmeston/Morris a 1-0 lead. That lead continued until the 6th inning when D-H was able to break through. Tyler Persbacker recorded a bunt single, scoring Thomas Reis. Greyson Thomas hit a ground ball and reached on an error, scoring Zech Begeal. Tyler Reis then hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Evan Persbacker.
On the hill, Begeal started the game for Deposit-Hancock. He went 4 1/3 innings, striking out 6 and giving up the lone run for E/M. Blake Fortunato came in relief to finish the game, giving up one hit and striking out 6 also.
With the win, D-H will move on to the Sectional Championship in Windsor on Friday, 4:30 p.m. start. They will take on #3 seeded Elmira Notre-Dame, who defeated #2 seed Afton by a score of 7-2 yesterday. We will provide you with more information regarding Friday’s game as we receive it.
