Spanish

Mrs. Dieguez

"Spanish is spoken in fourteen countries, including Spain, the mother country of all Latin American countries. In the United States, the Spanish language is the most widely spoken "foreign" language, therefore, students should, (if not must), learn the language fluently in order to acquire certain positions certain positions in the work force.

My students are learning Spanish beginning with vocabulary words (flash-card method), sentence writing, reading, listening, translating words from English to Spanish, and using those words in sentences. They also watch movies in either English or Spanish, that help them to understand the Spanish culture and the make-up/diversity of each country.

The Spanish Four class has acquired quite a vocabulary simply by writing about different Spanish speaking countries. They each choose a country or famous Latino and write about them or their country. The information that they recieve on the computer in English is then translated into Spanish. Translating is extremely important. There are many companies, government positions, banks, courts, hospitals, you name it, where billingual people are needed - and guess what- the salary is much higher than if you ONLY speak English!"
