The Hancock Board of Education welcomes residents, staff members, students, and other interested persons to its meetings. We appreciate your interest in, and concern for, our schools. School Board meetings are usually held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at
At the Board table are the Superintendent of Schools, the Business Manager, and the District Clerk. Copies of the agenda, which outline the order of business, are available to the public at each meeting and distributed to Board members in advance of the meeting date to allow the members time to study and review the information.
I. Call to Order The Board encourages public participation at Board meetings. The Open Forum with Community and/or Staff allows for questions and comments regarding items on the agenda. Persons wishing to speak should identify themselves and any organization they May be representing at the meeting. Comments must be limited to five minutes and relate to school matters. The Board does not generally respond immediately to issues raised, but will direct the administration to research the matter.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION
The Hancock Board of Education is the elected policy-making body of the school district. At Hancock, the Board consists of five members who serve without pay. The term of office is three years (July 1 Maye 30), with one or two positions elected at the annual election each year. The Board of Education is responsible for establishing the quality of education in the District. It serves as a liaison between the school and the community. The Board of Education: Ø Defines the philosophy of the District.
The Superintendent of Schools serves as Chief Executive Officer of the District, providing educational leadership to the Board of Education, staff, students, and community. Responsibilities include supervising the operation of the schools, the instructional program, and management of district personnel. The Superintendent also advises the Board on the needs and programs of the school and is responsible for the administration of all policies adopted by the Board.
