Weight training is every day from 3:00-5:00, with the exception of Wednesdays, when the time will be 3:30-5:30. It will continue throughout the school year, ending around regents week. It will begin again in the summer after the Fourth of July.
Weight training takes place in the weight room, located in the basement under the boy's locker room. During weight lifting you are free to use any station in the room. Stations include flat, inclined, and declined bench press, squat, power press, power cleans and many more. Agilities takes place in the first floor hallway outside of the boy's locker room. During agilities, exercises are performed to increase explosiveness, foot quickness, and overall speed. Some exercises include jumping rope, the foot ladder and line agilities. Anyone, male or female, high school or middle school, is free to participate in weight training activities. Your experience in the weight room can be as laid-back or as intense as you desire. It is a good way to stay in shape if you are not participating in a sport or have nothing to do after school. Also, weight training is a good way to get ready for a sports season. All members of sports teams are encouraged to lift weights. |
